In order to support the Vertical Stabilizer Design Office, Airbus Operations is looking for a Bachelor / Master for Structural Optimization of VTP components (d/f/m)

Start: As soon as possible
Duration: 6 months
You will be working at the largest production site for civil aircraft situated in Hamburg. Its location on the southern banks of the river Elbe includes the option to commute by ferry. Experience the special flair of Hamburg in your spare time where vibrant cosmopolitan culture meets nautic legacy.

With the target to reduce the weight and cost of VTP components, several components like spar, ribs and rudder fittings could be further optimized. Through the means of a structural optimization, a combination of topology and form optimization, these components can be newly designed. The new design needs to withstand the same loads and environmental conditions while being lighter or easier to manufacture than its original counterpart.
Understand and describe the main differences between different designs
Analyze the new concepts (test, FEM)
Highlight the variation potential in the interface loads in a parameter study
Creation of a design concept
Validation of the new design
Enrolled full time student (d/f/m) within Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics or similar field of study
You bring a genuine interest in Airbus and our products
You have basic composite structure analysis & optimization knowledge
You are keen to understand physical aspects and to develop yourself
Fluent English language skills
You are a good team player and are able to work independently.
